In line with the new iPhone 5 and the latest iPod nano, Apple also unveiled a revamped iPod Touch.

The new iPod Touch is set to be launched in October. It will cost $299 for the 32GB model and $399 for the 64GB version.

The fifth-gen iTouch features an extensive list of upgrades and updates, highlighted by the 4-inch display that makes the device the same size as the new iPhone. The media player sports Apple’s A5 chipset, replacing the obsolete A4 processor of its predecessor. It measures 6.1 millimeters in thickness and weighs in at 88 grams, making it the thinnest and lightest yet.

The new iPod Touch also comes with Siri voice-command assistant that was introduced in iPhone 4S. Although Apple did not elaborate on Siri’s usage, this new feature may assist the user in finding particular singles on iTunes or sorting his playlist.

Like the nano before it, Apple also brings several new color options for the iTouch: red, green, blue, black, and gray. No word on whether a white version will make a surprise appearance.

The new Touch has improved battery life, enabling the user to play music and video for 40 hours and 8 hours respectively. Its camera is also upgraded into a 5-megapixel backlight-illuminated shooter that has the same new features and capabilities as that of iPhone 5. The front-facing camera, meanwhile, now has backside illumination and facial detection.
