A court in Tokyo has sided with Samsung in its worldwide patent battle with Apple, ruling that the South Korean conglomerate did not infringe on Apple’s patents.

This comes after a nine-member federal jury in San Jose, California, ruled in Apple’s favor and punished Samsung with over $1 billion worth of damages. Meanwhile, a three-judge panel in South Korea found that both companies copied from each other’s patents and banned the sale of several Apple and Samsung devices in the country. The two companies will also have to pay limited damages.

The three judges in the Tokyo court found that Samsung’s smartphones and a tablet computer did not copy from Apple’s patents of synchronizing music and video content with servers. The court also rejected Apple’s request to ban disallow Samsung from selling eight Galaxy products in Japan.

As a result, Apple was ordered to pay the costs of the lawsuit.
