Is Apple Working on Own Computer Eye Wear?

As Google introduces its “Project Glass” AR-equipped eyewear (pictured), rumors emerged that Apple may be developing its own similar product.

A patent has been granted to Apple earlier this week and in its reveals a clue on the company’s possible plan on developing wearable displays. Apple Insider noted that patent number 8,212,859 covers “peripheral treatment for head-mounted displays,” even mentioning “see-through display technology” that may be equipped in some type of connected eyewear.

The patent, which Apple applied for back in 2006, describes “methods and apparatus, including computer program products, implementing and using techniques for projecting a source image in a head-mounted display apparatus for a user.”

Apple has yet to react about this report. Google better be prepared for another round of patent infringement suits.
