Rumor: iPhone 5 to Have MicroUSB Dock

A website that specializes in fixing and customizing iPhones reveals something allegedly about the iPhone 5 that got people excited and doubted its veracity at the same time. UBreakIFix shows off photos of what is supposed to be the upcoming iPhone with a two-tone brushed and chrome casing and a microUSB (or Thunderbolt) port.

Such development is a welcoming change on Apple, since its old-school 30-pin connector slot takes a lot of room in its iDevices. The inclusion of a smaller, more commonly used port may be Apple’s way of complying with European laws that standardize charger ports among all EU-bound smartphones.

There are also those who question the authenticity of such leakage, saying that having a microUSB port does not bode well with Apple’s shtick about keeping things proprietary. They also question the source itself. Who knows that is just a customized iPhone?
