We always watch the local morning shows just to get an idea about the traffic flow of freeways before you go to work. But alas, what the reporter said about light traffic turned out to be 2 minutes too late. Worry no more because Inrix Traffic app is now updated to spot traffic congestion in real time.

The Inrix Traffic 4 for iOS collects and analyzes data from almost 100 million sources, helping users avoid congestion caused by road work, police activity, local events, and traffic accidents. It also provides drivers optimal routes and estimated times of arrival for their two most common destinations, which they can send to loved ones and colleagues by text message or email. The app even offers users with ideal departure times, as well as estimate traffic congestion throughout the day based on historical records.

Inrix Traffic version 4 comes as a free, ad-free download on iTunes, but users can also opt to upgrade to a $24.99 premium version. The Inrix Traffic Premium includes traffic camera information and allows users to add more than two common destination points. Android users do not need to fret because a compatible version is in the works.
