Finally, Diablo III Launched

After 12 grueling years, Activision Blizzard has finally launched Diablo III, the latest in its very successful Diablo desktop game series.

Lead designer Jay Wilson explained the reason for the very long gap to about 1,500 fans who attended the game’s midnight launch in Irvine, California. “We’re very focused on quality. If we think something is not good enough, we make it better. We redo things, which is really uncommon in game development. If we build a level and don’t like (it), we’ll throw it out.”

The third chapter of Diablo lets players choose among five character classes: barbarian, monk, demon hunter, wizard or witch doctor. The character battles a horde of demonic minions across the Sanctuary world.

New features in the game include sprawling battlefields, real-money auctions, deeper combat system, and an increased online capabilities.

It is estimated that Diablo III, which is available in PC and Mac, has the potential to sell more than 4 million copies within its first year.
