Portable head mounted displays have recently found themselves in the consumer market where people may have the chance to try them out. But of those that are currently available are intended for entertainment purposes. Brother has recently introduced its upgraded AirScouter Head Mounted Display that can have valuable uses in a work environment.

The upgraded Brother AirScouter Head Mounted Displays now have options for people who wear corrective lenses and those who don’t. The Brother AirScouter WD-100G provides support for corrective lenses that a user may wear and there is the Brother AirScout WD-100A for those who have normal vision. The new AirScouter Head Mounted Displays provide users with an SVGA resolution screen right in front of their eyes without obscuring one’s field of vision. It is capable of providing an experience of viewing a 16″ display at 1meter distance and up to a 156″ screen from 10 meters away.

The Brother AirScouter Head Mounted Display requires a PC connection in order to stream data to and fro the user and the base computer. In addition, it requires an Internet or Bluetooth connection to provide VoIP and LiveCamera support features. The upgraded Brother AirScouter Head Mounted Display is expected to be available in the Japanese market sometime in mid-June of this year. It is expected to cost around 199,800 Japanese Yen or around US$2,458.
