Tonium Pacemaker Makes Comeback as PlayBook App

Posted on February 29, 2012

Back in 2008, audio equipment make Tonium came up with the Pacemaker portable DJ tool. It had a lot of promise, but consumers did not buy it until it was discontinued. Four years later, it appears that the Pacemaker will have a comeback as a PlayBook app. This is the result of an exclusive partnership between Tonium and RIM.

The development was first reported by RIM during its event at Mobile World Congress 2012 in Barcelona. Apart from this confirmation, nothing much was revealed, but we can say the app will include auto beatmatching, a vinyl mode for old-school scratching, digital mode, looping, loop travel, pitch control, beat skip, and “pro level” effects.

It is expected the Pacemaker app for BlackBerry PlayBook will be available this spring for a yet-unspecified price.

It's time for Tonium to wake up. Smartphones (well, iOS devices) killed the Pacemaker when the first DJ apps were released. Aside from that, PlayBook App. Seriously ? Didn't they learned anything ? Who uses playbooks ? People that are serious about apps are using iPads, not RIM devices, really. Tonium, look at what are the iOS DJ apps up to. Just look at the iDJ Live or iDJ Pro, and then think about it.
