Dyson DC39 Brings Ball Maneuvering Stateside

Posted on February 25, 2012

Dyson provides an end to the awkward “vacuum dance” home owners do. The company comes up with a so-called “Ball” technology that installs a giant ball that houses tremendous suction power and serves as a pivot for much easier maneuvering. The Ball does away with the traditional cartwheels we found in other vacuum cleaners. The wheels are awkward to use, having to move the device forward and backward multiple times just to turn it left.

It is also amazing to see how many components Dyson’s engineering team were able to fit in a rather volleyball-sized compartment. The Ball houses Dyson’s Radial Root Cyclone technology, enabling the vacuum to capture microscopic-sized dust.

One of its Ball vacuum cleaners is the Dyson DC39, which the company happily announces will land US shores mid-March. It is Dyson’s first canister vacuum with Ball technology, making it usable in furniture, curtains, and small spaces.

The Dyson DC39 Multi Floor and DC39 Animal will be available at Dyson.com and major retailers for $449.99 and $499.99 respectively.
