8-Bitty Bluetooth Game Controller

Posted on February 14, 2012

There are several reasons why you would not want to play arcade games on a touchscreen. Your fingers are too thick; you end up pressing “outside the buttons” (but there are no buttons to begin with); you do not find it as exciting as playing with a game pad.

ThinkGeek comes with an off-the-wall idea for the mobile gamers. The 8-Bitty, although still a concept , has already been garnering interest from the tech blogging community. The Bluetooth controller looks like the old-fashioned NES game pad, featuring a D-pad as well as the A and B buttons, with two should buttons added, finished with a fake wood-grain trim. It also includes an auto power save mode and requires 2 AAA batteries to work.

The online shop promises the mobile gaming peeps that this device will hook up to iOS or Android devices. The 8-Bitty is compatible with all iCade games available in Apple and Android app stores, as well as a bunch of Atari games apps. The device will be available “later this year” with an expected price of $24.99.
