Olympus Unveils New Tough Rugged Camera

Despite its financial issues, Olympus continues to churn new products into retail. Its latest is a line of rugged cameras for the casual users. The Olympus ToughTG-820 comes with shockproof, freezeproof, crushproof, dustproof, and waterproof properties. The device can tolerate being dipped into a pool of water up to 33 feet.

Apart from its rugged design, the Tough TG-820 comes with a 12-megapixel back-side illuminated CMOS sensor, 1080p videro recording powers, as well as a 5X optical and 4X digital zoom. Also included in this camera is a 3-inch, scratch-resistant, HyperCrystal III LCD along with a wide array of shooting modes including Panorama, Sensor-shift IS, Backlight HDR, and even a “Pet” mode.

The new Olympus Tough TG-820 will be available beginning next month for $299.99. Package includes a wrist strap, USB cable, A/V cable, a USB-to-AC adapter, lithium-ion battery, a software CD-ROM, and Olympus Viewer 2 software. Users can choose between silver, black, and blue color options.
