3M Shows Off Brighter Pico Projectors

Just when you thought pico projectors are just flashes in a pan, improvements on the device can be seen on a yearly basis. Take these new ones from 3M, which bring in twice the brightness as their former selves.

The 3M MP220 pico projector (pictured) shoots light beams at 50 lumens, twice as bright as its predecessor (the MP160). The hotdog bun-shaped device has 1,024 x 600 resolution, a tweaked redesign, and a supposed battery life of up to two hours. Along with those improvements is a shot up in price at $479, which is as costly as actual projectors.

Meanwhile, the more boxy 3M MP410 is significantly larger (at 4 x 4 x 1 inches) and heavier (about under a pound), but shoots out 300 lumens of light at 1,280 x 768 resolution. This battery-powered projector is worth playing HD games and movies, as long as you plug in your laptop or iPod in it. It also has VGA and HDMI inputs, and expected to cost you $699.
