Japanese Researchers Working On A 13-Foot Robot

It seems that the days of those giant robots roaming the earth is fast upon us. Well, it might sound like something that someone with paranoid tendencies may say. But then again, it is more possible now than ever since there have been huge strides made lately in the field of robotics. A Japanese company is now on its way to build a working humanoid robot standing 13 feet or 4 meters high.

Hajime Research Institute is in the process of trying to build a humanoid robot with a cockpit that can accommodate a human pilot. It may be quite similar to those Gundam mobile suits made popular by a popular Japanese animation series of the same name. The president of the company, Hajime Sakamoto aims to create a real Gundam robot within 10 years, timing it with the 40th anniversary of the popular Japanese animation series.

So far, pictures show that the company has already been able to create a leg of the said robot. There’s still a long way to go. But the process has already started. In no time, we will be entering into the Robot Era where humans and robots may be living (or even fighting) one another.  Whether it is something to look forward to or something to be really scared about, you be the judge.
