The Texting Glove

Posted on December 21, 2011

With the popularity of the mobile phone in today’s world, it can now be used for a variety of uses that transcends its original function. It is now not just used as a means to call a friend or a colleague from a far a way place. People now use their smartphones to watch videos, listen to music, and even go online. But pretty soon, these set of functions may have to make way for another, as proposed by this unique Texting Glove concept.

The Texting Glove is a unique concept that was developed by designers Oleg Imanilov, Zvika Markfield, and Tomer Daniel. The unique glove concept was first introduced at the Google’s Developers Day held in Tel Aviv. This concept allows sign language to be converted into text messages in Android phones.

The Texting Glove makes use of a gyroscope, finger sensors, an accelerometer and other tools to allow users to convert hand signals to be converted into text and displayed on an Android phone. Quite the unique concept, the Texting Glove though may capture a wider interest if it was sign language converted into speech. But that might be something that would eventually come out in the future as it is further developed.
