Samsung SCH-W999 Set to Launch in China

Samsung has launched an Android-powered clamshell phone for the Chinese market. The Samsung SCH-W999 flip phone features a 3.5-inch Super AMOLED screen with 480×800 resolution, a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm MSM8660 processor, Android 2.3 with TouchWiz user interface, HyperSkin backcover for firmer grip and less smear, a 5-megapixel camera, Bluetooth 3.0, as well as WiFi and WAPI connectvity. The latter is China’s attempt on WiFi.

And since this phone will be available exclusively to China Telecom, the SCH-W999 comes with dual SIM slots and dual-mode connectivity. It means that the device supports GSM and CDMA2000 standards, with the latter offering EV-DO 3G.

The phone will be available on 2012, although the exact date remains unknown.
