Future Chrome Updates To Include Gamepad Support

Posted on November 25, 2011

Google developer advocate Paul Kinlain revealed that Google Chrome web browser will come up with game-centric updates come early 2012.

In a recent Develop conference in Liverpool, he stated that these updates include a plug-and-play gamepad, webcam, and microphone support in Chrome, as well as the implementation of WebRTC open-source video chat application. These updates would provide seamless video chatting and more immersive web gaming service.

The WebRTC will run directly in-browser, without the need to download plug-ins. This technology can also support an OnLive-style cloud gaming service, although we haven’t heard Google doing anything such as that.
