Nokia Shows Waterproofing Tech for Future Phones

Posted on October 28, 2011

Another booth stands out during Nokia World, wherein a new technology could solve the problem about dropping your Nokia phones to the toilet.

Nokia introduces a “super” waterproof coating that binds a layer of nanotubes to the surface of its devices, creating a protective layer that bounces water away. Although the nanotube layer works most effectively with water, the treated surface can also repel other liquids and even fingerprints.

A spokesperson at Nokia World even hinted that since this waterproofing solution is ultra thin, there is a possibility that the coating can also be applied on the insides of devices.

Let us hope that this gadget waterproofing technology will also benefit devices of other brands.
