Pioneer has recently introduced a new AR Heads Up Display Car Navigation System that can effectively project car navigation data directly on a car’s windshield. It also comes with augmented reality features that will allow drivers to get navigation data directly from what they can see in their windshield. Arrows can be effectively displayed when the driver really needs to make a turn.

The new Pioneer AR HUD Car Navigation System features a laser projector and a concave half-mirror to display data on a car’s windshield. The image is created by the laser projector and with the concave half-mirror magnified it at a distance. Pioneer has made a compact version of the system that allows the device to be installed in cars. The Pioneer AR HUD Car Navigation System is being eyed for a 2012 release. There’s no word yet on its expected pricing.

I like this navigation system on the windshield. But I think this will distract the driver. They might have a hard time seeing the road.
