Extreme sports athletes want to record their every bone-breaking action, which is no surprise that GoPro updates its line of HD helmet cameras. The GoPro HD Hero2 has twice the video-recording power of its 2009 predecessor, the HD Hero, with 1080p video capture resolutuion at 16:9 aspect ratio. It also gives adventurers their choice of narrow (90-degree), wide (170-degree), and medium (127-degree) viewing angles. The device can even snap up to ten photos per second at 11 megapixels each. The camera comes with a mini-HDMI port, composite out, USB port, SD card slot, and HERO ports to help you share your outdoor exploits.

The HD Hero2 comes in three versions: outdoor, motorsports, and surf, all of which are compatible with existing GoPro accessories. Each helmet camera, regardless of the version, costs $300. If you cannot afford that, how about opt for GoPro’s discounted helmet cameras. The original HD Hero now costs $200, while the 960 model costs $150.

GoPro also announces its upcoming WiFi BacPac that allows live broadcasting and camera control via WiFi connection. It is expected to be released this winter.
