New Sanyo eneloops With Improved Shelf Life

Posted on October 19, 2011

Batteries are most useful in times of emergencies. Prolonged power outages, car troubles and other types of emergencies usually find the use of batteries quite essential. It is therefore quite important for batteries to have a longer shelf life. That is what the new Sanyo eneloops will be offering.

Sanyo, now under the Panasonic Group of companies, has recently announced that it has come up with new and improved rechargeable batteries under its eneloop brand. The new eneloop nickel-metal hydride rechargeable batteries are now able to maintain and hold up to 70 percent of their capacity even when left unused for as long as 5 years. The new AA and AAA eneloops have also improved their charging cycles, with the new batteries now usable even after about 1,800 times of charges. The new Sanyo eneloop batteries are expected to come out in the Japanese market in November 14. A pair of AA eneloops is expected to cost around 1,200 Japanese Yen or around US$16 while a pair of AAA batteries will retail at around 1,000 Yen or US$13.
