Roku has evolved from a mere media player that streams Netflix videos on TV to a top-caliber service that offers over 300 media channels. The company has recently unveiled its Roku LT media player, which features built-in wireless connectivity and the ability to stream videos in 720p. Users can gain access to all of Roku’s 300 channels including, Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon Instant Video, Pandora, and Disney. The Roku LT only costs $49.99 and is expected to be released for retail in November.

Roku also includes a new channel to its service: HBO GO, which requires a separate HBO GO subscription. It provides subscribers with loads of HBO-produced series such as Game of Thrones, True Blood, Boardwalk Empire, The Sopranos, Sex and the City, Deadwood. The service also includes HBO original films, miniseries, sports events, documentaries, and specials.

For those who want more from their media streaming player, Roku has recently announced the Roku 2, which includes a new line of streaming devices that offer motion-based games including Angry Birds. Roku promises that more game titles will come their way. The Roku 2 costs between $60 and $100, depending on the media player model.
