Anti-theft technology for laptops has long been a staple for Intel, but it only caters to enterprise customers. However, the need to extend this kind of protection to average consumers has become very apparent.

McAfee has announced its partnership with Chipzilla in creating a consumer-friendly software bundle that works with chip-level anti-theft technology, which will be installed into your everyday ultrabooks. The company does not go through lengths in explaining this project, but it is expected to come with remote lock, remote wipe, and location tracking. These features, along with what McAfee and Chipzilla will cook up, will help ordinary users to recover their precious laptops and keep personal data away from thieves. This anti-theft suite is expected to come out in notebooks next year.
