With many experts saying that the desktop PC may be on its, the tablets and the slate PC’s may probably be taking its place. There are now a variety of slate PC’s coming out that offer full-PC functionality with portability to boot. One of such devices is the new NEC LaVie Touch Slate PC.

The NEC LaVie Touch was recently introduced in Japan and sports an Intel Atom Z670 1.5GHz processor. It is a Windows tablet hybrid that comes with a 2GB RAM, 64GB SSD storage. It comes ready with WiFi, Bluetooth and an HDMI port. But what makes it interesting enough is the accessories that it comes with. The NEC LaVie Touch also comes with a wireless keyboard and mouse and a desktop dock that houses the DVD drive. Though the slate in itself is capable of being used on its own, these accessories may surely find some need when one misses that desktop experience.

The NEC LaVie Touch is currently available only in Japan. It is expected to cost at an equivalent of US$1,200 including the accessories. No word yet whether it will be released stateside or in other countries.
