Toshiba Unveils Portégé Z830 Ultrabook

Posted on September 5, 2011

Apart from the AT200 tablet, Toshiba also unveils its very first ultrabook that costs below $1,000 yet just as powerful. The Portégé Z830 is just 15.9 millimeters at its thickest and features a 13.3-inch LED backlit display with 1,366 x 768 resoultion, your choice of Intel Core i processors, Intel HD 3000 graphics, 128GB SSD, USB 2.0 and 3.0 ports, HDMI and VGA out, a backlit and spill-resistent keyboard, 1.3-megapixel webcam, and an optional fingerprint reader. Toshiba has yet to reveal the RAM, though, only indicating that the ultrabook is just “under $1,000.” I also have to look through different sources to make sure that the laptop’s name is “Portégé,” not “Protégé,” but I have a weird inkling that Toshiba might have spelled it wrong.

The Toshiba Portégé is expected to be available in November, when the likes of Asus and Acer will also likely to show off their ultrabooks as well. By then, it would be a matter of which ultrabook has the sweetest specs and price.
