This bachelor thesis in a technological institute in Zurich, Switzerland, has been turning geek heads all over the world. Student Armin Ambühl, with the supervision of Sergei Lupashin and Raffaello D’Andrea, has able to create a fast and dynamic interaction between a human user and a quadrotor with the help of a Kinect sensor and a bunch of overhead cameras.

The user simply uses arm movement to control the small flying device. He simply would have to lift his arm up to make the quadrotor fly and move his limb around to control the copter’s movement. To stop the vehicle, the user simply claps.

In plain sight it looks like some magic is being performed, but no. It’s science!
