Seagate has recently announced that it has come up with a 3.5 inch hard disk drive able to store up to 1TB. This is considered as a world first, with a hard drive able to break the 1TB areal density barrier that can be used in today’s PC. The new Seagate Barracuda XT 3TB Hard Drive will even make thing better with its 3TB storage capacity.

Seagate has achieved accommodating up to 1TB worth of data to be recorded and stored per hard disk platter. For technical purists, this comes to around 625 Gigabits per square inch, currently the highest in the industry. Seagate’s GoFlex Desk external drives may be the first to feature this new hard drive. The new Seagate Barracuda XT 3.5 Inch hard drives may be available in the market sometime in the middle of 2011. It will available in 1TB, 1.5TB and 2TB capacities. It is also on schedule of offering the 3TB 3.5 inch hard drive sometime later, able to accommodate 1TB for each of its 3 platters. Pricing for this new high capacity 3.5 inch hard drives have not yet been provided.
