RIM, the makers of BlackBerry, has given into government pressure (as if that is new) and agreed to block pornographic content on Indonesian BlackBerry units. The largest Muslim country also holds over one million BlackBerry users and has strict anti-pornography laws.

In a released statement, RIM officials say that their company is “fully committed to working with Indonesia’s carriers to put in place a prompt, compliant filtering solution for BlackBerry subscribers in Indonesia as soon as possible.” Because of the agreement, the Indonesian government has also asked RIM whether it could move its service’s servers right smack into the Nusantara.

Would RIM give in this time? Let’s wait and see.
