Miffy Netbook from Onkyo Out Now in Japan

Here’s a little trivia: Contrary to popular belief, Miffy is not Japanese. The rabbit cartoon character, who first appeared on several children’s books before venturing to accessories and television, was made in the Netherlands by artist Dick Bruna.

Despite being from a foreign land, Miffy is a popular figure in Japan’s penchant for cuteness. Just days ago, Onkyo has announced the arrival of their cross-mouthed rabbit will come as a limited-edition, super-cute, and kid-friendly Miffy netbook. The device oozes with Miffy goodness not only from the cover, but also within its software from wallpapers, screen savers, calendar, widgets, and icons among others.

The Miffy netbook contains a 10.1-inch LCD screen with 1,024x 600 resolution, an Atom N450 CPU, 1GB RAM, a 160GB hard disk drive, two USB ports, Ethernet, WiFi, an SD and Memory Stick Pro slot, an integrated webcam, Windows 7 Home Premium or XP Home, and 2.5 hours of battery life.

The device goes on sale only in Japan and is limited to just 300 units, which explains the whopping US$905 cost for the XP model and $1,017 for the Windows 7 version.
