The makers of WePad has renamed its product to “WeTab” in efforts to “clearly differentiate (their) products within the international market for tablet computers.” The company has also shifted its name from WePad GmbH to WeTab GmbH. Although it does not explicitly state that the WeTab tries to distance itself from the popular iPad, the reasoning is pretty much obvious anyway.

Apart from these two changes, all other particulars and pre-orders are not affected, according to the company. The tablet is now available for pre-order—in Amazon Germany—for 449 euros (about US$572) on the 16GB WiFi version and 569 euros (about $725) for the 32GB 3G model. No shipping date yet, though.
