Microsoft has finally unveiled its next generation of Windows Mobile , calling it under the new name “Windows Phone 7.”  This mobile OS puts together related content from the Web, applications, and services into a single view to simplify common tasks.  It consists of six hubs:  People, Pictures, Games, Music + Video, Marketplace, and Office.

The People hub brings together relevant content based on a person in your contact list, including his or her live feed and photos from social networks.  Meanwhile, the Pictures hub makes picture sharing easier by integrating the OS with the Web and PC.  Xbox LIVE is supported on the Games hub, enabling users to access more games for the Xbox 360 as well as build new online gaming friends.

The Music + Video hub combines the best of Zune, content from a user’s PC, and FM radio.  Users are enabled to share their music tastes to like-minded music lovers thanks to Zune Social.  The Marketplace hub allows users to discover and load the phone with applications and games.  Finally, the Office hub integrates the Office productivity suite with the Windows phone, providing access to Office, OneNote, Outlook Mobile, and SharePoint Workspace.

Various phone manufacturers and service providers are expected to develop devices with this new OS, including Dell, Garmin-Asus, HTC, HP, LG, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, Toshiba, Qualcomm, AT&T, Deutsche Telekom AG, Orange, SFR, Sprint, Telecom Italia, Telefónica, Telstra, T-Mobile USA, Verizon Wireless, and Vodafone.
