Lenovo ThinkPad Edge: A Step In The Right Direction.

I can’t believe that this is a Lenovo Thinkpad I’m seeing. Then again at closer inspection, I see that nipple-thingie having a fun time smack in the middle of the G,H,V and B keys and I am brought back to my senses.

It seems that Lenovo has taken cue from up and coming netbook manufacturers like Asus and MSI , sensing that perhaps corners are not too "in" with the kids nowadays. We’re seeing the Thinkpad Edge realizing that dressing up is not really a bad thing. Donning a glossy black or red lid, rounded corners, silver plastic banding around the edges and a totally reworked keyboard, you’d think you were buying an Acer. But the presence of the matte black interior and that infamous "nipple", otherwise known as the signature eraserhead pointer will surely be reminiscent to Lenovo fans, even though made redundant by the large responsiev touchpad.

Prospectors can get the Thinkpad Edge with either an AMD 1.6GHz Turion X2 with ATI Radeon HD 3200 graphics, or 1.3GHz Core 2 Duo with Intel’s integrated Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD, at $579 and $799, respectively. A 320GB HDD with 2GB RAM, WiMaxwith 6 cell battery is standard at most stores. Since this is supposed to be a player for the netbook category, expect the 13.3-inch, 3.6 pound Thinkpad Edge not to have an optical drive.
