Google Adds Translation to Main Search Engine

Google Translate in Main Search Engine

Not to sit on their laurels in the browser wars, Google updates its popular search engine with an integrated automated language translation feature.  Instead of just providing translations of texts in Google Translate, users can now direct Google’s main search engine to seek for websites written in a wide array of languages and then provide results according to the user’s preferred tongue.

Google does this by translating the keywords into seemingly relevant languages.  Searching about the Vietnam War, for instance, would yield relevant Web pages written in Vietnamese or in the user’s native language.

Google Search can now look for Web pages written in 51 languages, displaying results from as many as five languages at a time.
