Canon PowerShot D10

Canon’s first venture into adventure-type cameras is a success.

Tne Canon PowerShot D1 is water proof for up to 10 meters or 33 feet deep; is freeze-proof for up to 10C or 14F; is shockproof for up to 1.22 meters or 4 feet, and is totally dust proof.

It has a 12 megapixel sensor, a 3x zoom lens with Optical Image Stabilization, a 2.5 inch LCD screen, the new Smart AUTO, Blink Detection, and the new FaceSelf-Timer modes.

Its toy-camera looks can be customized. It has a sturdy metal body, and has an excellent overall finish. It’s fairly small; it will fit in the palm of your hand quite easily. Its maximum aperture is f/2.8 at the wide end and f/4.9 at the narrow end. It’s a little – bulky, 4.9cms thick when turned off, which means it won’t fit comfortably in your trouser pockets. It has very few external controls which mean it’s a fairly simple camera to use.

All that said, the PowerShot D10 is great for taking underwater shots, and is bright enough to use when documenting your spelunking adventures, and is well worth the $329.99 you’ll be shelling out.
