ASUS seems unstoppable. With their success in the netbook market, they have just unveiled the very first Skype Certified videophone in the world, the AiGuru SV1. Skype users will definitely love this one, and yes – we are referring to a standalone videophone that does not need a computer system. This latest videophone is designed for those who are away from their loved ones and want a budget video call solution.

The ASUS AiGuru SV1 allows you to make limitless phone calls using a VGA quality webcam, microphone, and speakerphone. It has a built-in 7-inch LCD display (800 x 480 resolution) where you see the person you are calling with. Skype is an amusing thing. If you are one of those who cannot live without it, then this gadget is tailor-made for you. If you have never tried this service, you would still have easy time using the AiGuru SV1 with its intuitive button layout and icon-based interface.

Making video calls is as easy as reciting ABC. Simply connect to a broadband connection (Wi-Fi or Ethernet connectivity), then sign-in using an existing Skype account (you can create one if you do not have an account), and start video calling. Should a brownout occur during a conversation, do not worry. The device has a built-in rechargeable battery that can power it for around 20 more minutes without using external power. ASUS AiGuru Sv1 Videophone retails for $299.
