Samson released earlier this month its newest consumer device, the Zoom H4n. This handheld digital recorder features multimedia functions endowed with high definition audio recordings perfect for amateur and professional musicians alike. In fact, the H series have been the preferred tool by the likes of Black Sabbath’s Tony Iommi, Black Crowes’ Marc Ford, and Belle and Sebastian’s Stevie Jackson.

The Zoom H4n highlights the built-in X/Y stereo condenser microphone that can support sounds that come in 90 degrees or 120 degrees. This results in more stunning audio recordings. And since you can adjust the microphone digitally, you can control every minute detail of the sound.

This portable digital recorder features a 1.9-inch LCD widescreen, an onboard reference speaker, and an intuitive interface. This device also provides songwriters a user-friendly multi-track recording capability. What is more, the Zoom H4n has Hi-Z Inputs for recording bass and guitar, onboard studio effects, variable speed playback ability for "phrase training", and more than 50 different bass and guitar amp modeling settings.

The Zoom H4n can support up to 24bit/96kHz on SD/SDHC media with 32GB worth of memory. This audio recorder’s USB 2.0 means that the device can support most electronic devices. The Zoom H4n is also durable, boasting a rubberized chassis that was designed using shock-resistant frame. Overall, the digital recorder’s compact size and clear sound is ideal for on-the-road recording. You can get the Zoom H4n for $500.
