Canon EOS 1000D

Canon has been lagging behind in the digital SLR market recently. Major thanks to Nikon and Sony’s well-priced and very strong entry-level models. Olympus and Pentax also offer some excellent low-cost DSLR models, which leaves Canon looking somewhat exposed in this market. In response, Canon released EOS 1000D DSLR, an attempt to seduce consumers into the Canon EOS camera system. It is a 10.1-MP model and has the latest DSLR must-have features such as live monitor view.

Some users describe EOS 1000D as EOS 400D with a bolt-on live view, while some see it not as an upgraded version of 400D but as a cut-down version of EOS 450D. However, EOS 1000D shares a number of features with both models. The size and shape of Canon’s new camera is a closer match. Also, the control layout is almost a carbon copy of EOS 450D, although the EOS 1000D has the EOS 400D’s 2.5-inch 230K monitor.

Canon EOS 1000D DSLR also features a 10.1 MP CMOS sensor, 7-point wide-area Autofocus, Self-Cleaning Image Sensor, DIGIC III processor, and up to 3 frames per second shooting. LCD size is 2.5 inch with live view mode and LCD resoultion is 230 k pixels. It measures 126.1 mm x 97.5 m x 61.9 mm and weighs 450g. A 35-point TTL system handles the exposure metering; this system has been used by Canon for several years. It is priced at $699.99. You can by EOS 1000D at Canon’s website.
