There is a saying that repeating something a lot would eventually turn it into a truth. However, with the number of praises the Logitech Harmony One Universal Remote control is receiving, there is no reason not to believe in the hype. Getting props in the recent 2008 Consumer Electronics Show sure made this The One.

The Harmony One’s best feature would most probably be its ability to integrate up to 15 remote programs and the best does not end there. Unlike other universal remotes which could not totally replicate the capabilities of the factory remotes they try to replace, the full-color touch screen of Logitech’s new release makes fiddling through options easier. The backlit buttons make it nearly effortless to surf buttons even in the dark.

Setup is simple. Instead of keying in complicated codes, install the software from the CD, then follow the instructions. Choosing from a database of more than 5,000 manufacturers and more than 200,000 devices means that your equipment is compatible more often than not. If you find yourself stumped, the remote comes with a help feature.

Operation is made simple with a press of a single button. The functions are totally customizable to your preferences. The activity buttons make things easier with Harmony’s Smart State Technology automatically setting up the entertainment system for you.

The ergonomic design makes sure that it would be easy to press the buttons. Battery life is not a problem since the remote comes with a charger. The package contains the remote, a charging station, USB cable, AC adapter, rechargeable lithium-ion battery, CD installer, installation guide, and a one-year warranty.

The only thing it lacks from its Harmony predecessors is the Z-wave capability, but this drawback is nearly negligible considering the numerous pluses it has. Basing on the feedback generated by this nifty remote, it is hard to dismiss the fact that this universal remote is a step ahead of the competition.
